My Last Personal Reflection

This is my the last personal reflection of min , anyway this week i learned an unsurprising yet unrealized fact that technology is powerful and that it can influence the great minds of humans. I also got to know that most culture ,example like the internet culture is created by technology itself.

The Possibilty of Reshaping Culture Via Technology and How....?

The possibility of reshaping culture via technology is high , because people can easily be influenced by technology because of their believe in it . How? Internet is one of technology's biggest product and currently is the most important tool for more than millions of people in the world including me , who is using the internet to write in this blog , back to the matter in hand . Internet is the fastest way and the most simplest way of technology to reshape culture , it could even create or destory culture itself .

Culture Influenced by Technology....?

These days , technology plays a big and important role in everyone life in making their lives easier or to some , making it better . Technology as an important element in our life can influence many types of culture into our lives . The internet culture is one of the main culture that technology has influenced to people . Through this culture , the internet culture , the usage and gained of the internet itself has increase rapidly and is still increasing . Since there are many advantages , people don't give it a second thought thus the increase in usage . People seem to look at it as a tool that can be used to simplify their lives . Although there might be some disadvantages which are found in every sort of thing , people seem to like using it . If this keeps up , the usage of internet will increase to levels beyond imaginations .

Personal Reflection

Through this week I have been doing some research on media imperialism ,and found out that media imperialism is widely happening in our country . Big superstores like Giant , Tesco and Carrefuor are taking over and monopolizing the small community shops , preventing them to run their business . Other than that in the aspects of culture , it too has been influenced deeply due to the screening of movie in cinema and reality shows on the television which are often watched by teenagers .

The Connection between the information given from the lecture and the documentary .(critical thinking)

Media imperialism as we all know clearly happened and even now is currently is happening . In a shorter version , media imperialism is sharks and fishes , smaller countries represent the fishes , the fall prey to bigger countries in the aspects of media industries and they also cause force-feeding of media due to the intense power of the bigger country . As we have watched in the documentary , we have learned that a few great minds of the past have predicted and tried to prevent media imperialism from happening . In the aspects of economy , large superstores move in and sell their products in a much cheaper price , causing the smaller community shops to either sell their shop or close down .

Personal Reflection

This week I learned about the effects of media tools on media . You tube was the example i choose , I oso learned that there are other media tools like the You tube which hae deep effects on the media . Facebook is another example of an effective media tool , Facebook bring not only the society closer , it also bring people from other country closer . Other than that it creates a new gate way for people to make friends with other people frm other state or country or even for people to find their long lost relations .

You tube has become one of the famous website and the most visited website now days . Anything new from news , games , music to movies will be in this website , previewing anything new and important to people all over the world without any payment . Its like gaining the latest news anytime , anywhere about anything you want to know with just a click of a button . Its as if the whole digital realm is in your finger tips . You tube has a big media effect, it has helped many gain fast any important information fast and accurately . Other than that it also give its user to upload their own video in order to be shared by the other user making You tube a place to produce popular videos .

Personal Reflection

Through the media culture class , much could be gained other than what is taught by the lecturer. I have gained interest on knowing about the past because of the lesson learned in the media culture class. Over the period of a week which was week, I learned a lot about Obscenity, Pornography and Indecency . I also learned that people now days are addicted to pornography and often can be obscenity and indecent . This one day will affect the country's social status .

Obscenity, Pornography and Indecency , What the difference??(Critical Reflection)

Beginning with obscenity , is the term used in a legal context used for sexual immorality . Pornography on the other hand is is the explicit depiction of sexual subject matter with the sole intention of sexually exciting the viewer and Indecency is an individual's adherence to social standards of inappropriate speech and conduct . The society i currently addicted to pornography and often be obscenity and indecent .

Personal Reflection

Through out this week I learned that one of the important thing needed now days is Media Literacy . This is in order to keep the productivity level increasing as all time based on the standars of the particular time .

Why is it important for me as a FCM student to have Media Literacy ??

I as a FCM student need to accessing, analyzing and evaluate and communicate information in a variety of formats so that I can produce better products .By analyzing the message i could understand more deeply about the message rather than knowing a fraction of it . The mass media affect how we perceive and understand the world and people around us so as a FCM student I need to have Media Literacy .New technologies also provide new opportunities for youth as media creators .As we approach the end of the 20th century people in the workplace as in their daily lives will increasingly need the information and communication skills necessary to live and work with multiple formats so the need of Media Literracty is important not only for me as a FCM sudent but to all students and workers.

Media literacy is the ability to accessing and analyze the messages that inform, entertain and sell to us every day. It's the ability to bring critical thinking skills to bear on all media .

Media stereotype that I have seen either on TV or in the movies?

When I was young I watched a lot of cartoons on television . Then i did not know stereotypes so I was blindly addicted to these cartoons . Even some times when I watch them now days I'm still addicted .

WHAT is Media Stereotype ??

Mass media became on of the main sources of popular culture in modern capitalist society. Media, however, not only entertains and offers news to people, but also transfers the stereotypes .A media stereotype is a preconceived idea that attributes certain characteristics to all the members of the media .

PERSONAL REFLECTION ON THE MEDIA CULTURE CLASS

This week I learned that internet currently could be the best source of information but not everything in it is true . At times we should question the truth of a certain fact that is obtained from the internet since the source that the information is obtained might be fake or improper . The lack of realizing that certain information obtained is false ,provides us with wrong facts .

Do WE often take what is on the Internet as truth without thinking much about it ??? (CRITICAL THINKING)

Yes, majority of times we don't even bother to question whether the fact provided is true or false . This is because we are too dependent towards the internet till when we receive any sort of information and accept it as the truth with out even thinking a moment about it . This could lead to false information giving and other bad effects.

Do WE often take what is on the Internet as truth without thinking much about it ??? (CRITICAL THINKING)

Yes, we as humans are easily influenced depending on the source we get the information from. For instance , Wikipedia . What ever information that seems to be shown in that website , we seems to believe it as truth without thinking much about it because we assume that the source of the information is reliable . Trust on websites like Wikipedia or on other information giving websites makes us become blind to the lies which are shown in the internet .

Through the media culture class , much could be gained other than what is taught by the lecturer. As we all know, the usage and the need of social media is growing as fast and as good as technology itself. I am affected by social media and unsurprisingly ,the people around me are also affected through social media as much as I have . Social media basically has increasingly taken over the life style of me and the people around me. It actually unites us in giving out our own opinions , comment and other perspective . Other than tat, we are able to share music , pictures and even videos in a blink of an eye with each other . Furthermore, in other entertainment aspects we are able to play as a unit through online gaming which currently is one of the highest priority in the gaming world due to the daily increase of consumer using such services in order to access the game. Social media has done a great job in creating a special unity between its users by allowing them to express , share and even do certain thing like play games together thus the importance of social media.

Social media is a bridge of communication among humans. It has a big impact in my life as I use n gain through it every day. I often use social media applications such as , Wikipedia for reference , Friendster for social networking and Youtube for social networking and video sharing . Social media allows me to interact or even pass out certain information about a particular subject to the people that I specifically want to inform , fast and easily. Other than that I also receive important information in an easy way through social media .
